With solid fuel stoves there has been a lot of research and development in recent years due to the increase in fossil fuel prices and ever growing awareness of the harm caused by greenhouse gases. This means that the safety and efficiency of solid fuel is much enhanced, which has also been the case with gas and oil since the advent of high efficiency condensing boilers. The most important innovation in the development of improved efficiencies and safety, in working with solid fuel has been the advent of equipment such as the Heat Genie which Patrick Plant has used extensively.
